About us
WHAT IS LAST CHANCE SANDWICH?
Last Chance Sandwich is entering its fifth season as a deli, café, and mercantile just 2 km from Cape Breton Highlands National Park. What began as a simple stop for hungry hikers and road trippers has grown into a unique place many visitors now build into their Cabot Trail tradition!
Inside, the menu focuses on fresh, satisfying food made for long days of exploring and adventure. Locally roasted coffee from Village People Coffee, granola, breakfast, and treats for the morning. Sandwiches, salads, and house-made treats, with thoughtful vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options always available for your adventure!
New for season five, Last Chance Sandwich now offers a curated selection of beer, wine, and cocktails, from local breweries, cideries, wineries, and distilleries, making it an even better place to settle in after a day on the trail or gather with friends on a summer afternoon!
The mercantile features locally made goods, practical provisions for the campground or road trip, and small reminders of Cape Breton to bring home. Guests can dine on the covered porch, grab lunch for the beach or the famous Skyline Trail, or pre-order a picnic for a day in the park!
Meet
Pierre Pickles!
Meet Pierre Pickles and Claude Cornichon! As we were designing our logo, it was decided that we needed a mascot and we drew a little pickle guy. During the winter we jokingly asked our friend, renowned folk artist, William Roach, if he could carve us a human-size pickle! He carved our baby pickle, Claude, first as a prototype and Pierre followed soon after! Pierre is carved from a driftwood log and stands over 6 feet tall and weighs about 350 pounds! He is stationed outside Last Chance Sandwich waving to all who pass by and loves taking selfies with visitors!
